The
coronavirus or Covid -19 is known to affect the people with low immunity. Since
cancer weakens the immunity. Though there is no direct link established for the
affects of corona virus on cancer patients, the weekend immunity is the most
vulnerable aspect to consider. Even cancer survivors are considered at higher
risk than others as the cancer and the treatment might have affected the
overall health of the survivor.
Initial
studies on patients suggested that Lung Cancer patients have the higher risk of
getting the coronavirus infection. Any other underlying health condition along
with cancer elevates the risk of getting the infection.
It thus
becomes important that people with active cancer cases should be extremely
careful and precautious during this pandemic and should immediately contact
their oncologist to report the symptoms. In case of the covid symptoms in
cancer survivors, they could opt to talk to regular doctor about the symptoms
first.
